The owner of an old GAZ-69, Ihor "Hans" saved Irpen's life.
From the first days of the "road of life", he evacuated people, delivered food, and took out the wounded. As a resident, Ihor knew all the moves of Irpen. The road was dangerous, passing through a small pedestrian bridge and a vast open bank that was well-shot by enemy mortars. He strengthened the bridge and removed structures that interfered with the car's movement. The daily round-the-clock work continued during March and April 2022. Igor says that he made 5-6 evacuation trips per day. Even a seriously ill child in a wheelchair was saved.
Only once, when a house and a car burned down from mortar fire, Ihor disappeared from the "Road of Life". "Irpin didn't see Gazik for only one day," Igor jokes. The man restored the car and continued his mission to save people. He says that all the time he was supported by local and military people, fed and cared for by volunteers.
